Learn more about the Dementia Knowledge to Action Program

The Dementia Knowledge to Action Program develops participants to become Guides, who can lead, coach, and influence within their care settings. They work directly with their team to enhance dementia practice at the point of care. By investing in a Guide who can implement rapid change and improvement, your organisation can become a preferred care provider for families and carers of people living with dementia.

To harness the best value from this program we ask that an organisational decision maker meets with the DTA Program intakes team. Program readiness as well as how to select the best candidate for the program will be explored.

To be a Dementia Guide, eligible candidates must be nominated by their organisation. They need to be:

  • Working frontline in aged care and community services.
  • Knowledgeable about dementia.
  • Have experience in supporting people living with dementia.

Dementia Guides will identify an opportunity to enhance dementia care in their care setting.

Throughout the program they will be guided to plan, implement and complete a care improvement project.

A certificate of completion will be issued by Dementia Training Australia upon completion of the program.

On meeting program requirements, participants will become DTA certified Dementia Guides.

Delivered over a 4-month period and participants are required to complete the following components:

Testimonials

I am extremely grateful to the DK2A team for offering me an exceptional learning experience through this program. I am genuinely delighted to have had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how to improve the care environment for individuals living with dementia and their caregivers. The DK2A approach brought about significant positive changes in dementia care practices, which I was able to implement immediately.

I recently attended a dementia knowledge to action program and found it to be incredibly valuable. The program was interactive, making it engaging and easy to follow. The highlight for me was the virtual inclusion component, which provided a powerful perspective on how individuals with dementia perceive their surroundings. This immersive experience significantly deepened my understanding and empathy. Thank you for this enlightening program.
