Overview

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this webinar is postponed until further notice.

In the meantime, our new Decoding Delirium course is live and is available for free.

A state of delirium is characterised by disturbances of attention, awareness and cognition that develop over a short period of time. Delirium can be caused by a general medical condition, an intoxicating substance and/or the use of medication.

Delirium is a medical emergency and requires immediate attention from staff and/or carers. Prompt identification and assessment of delirium is required so that appropriate interventions can be carried out. This can help resolve delirium and restore physical and mental stability to someone living with dementia. Undiagnosed or underdiagnosed delirium may cause long-term change in cognition and orientation, which can adversely impact the individual’s quality of life.

So how does delirium differ from dementia, and what does it mean for someone living with dementia?
