This workshop is aimed at exploring the causes of changed behaviour and strategies to respond appropriately to changed behaviour. Using case studies, workshop how to apply practical strategies to prevent or de-escalate acute distress and severe changed behaviour.
Learning objectives
- Provide an overview of dementia, the common signs and causes of dementia, and the impact of brain changes on a person living with dementia throughout the disease trajectory.
- Explore the causes of changed behaviour, strategies to respond appropriately to changed behaviour, and using case studies apply practical strategies and tips on how to prevent or de-escalate acute distress and severe changed behaviour.
- Provide strategies on how to support a person living with dementia in a person-centred way.
