GPs are often at the forefront when the ability of a person living with dementia to drive is in question.

This webinar will discuss the impact of dementia on the ability to drive and assist GPs to understand the considerations involved in determining fitness to drive. The importance of having conversations about driving with patients is also discussed.

Dr Allan Shell is an Academic GP and an Adjunct Senior Lecturer and educator for DTA.

Dr Beth Cheal

Dr Beth Cheal, PhD, is a highly experienced driver-trained occupational therapist and driving instructor. Beth has been involved in professional education for GPs and other health professionals to assist them in determining the “Fitness to drive” of older and cognitively impaired drivers.

Professor Dimity Pond

Professor Dimity Pond is the Professor of General Practice at the University of Newcastle. As well as her significant research into the areas of dementia and mental health in Primary Care, Dimity works in a clinical practice in Berowra, on the outskirts of Sydney and is a member of the DTA GP Education Team.
