ReThink Respite provides a portal of information and resources for carers and people living with dementia in Australia.
ReThink Respite provides a portal of information and resources for carers and people living with dementia in Australia. There’s advice on the types of respite available, help with using respite and other carer support. Resources include a Decision Guide for Carers
to help deciding whether you want or need respite services, checklists for choosing respite services, key contacts and links to other helpful websites and resources.
ReThink Respite began as a community project in the Illawarra-Shoalhaven region of NSW, led by Dr Lyn Phillipson at the University of Wollongong. Funding for this project was supported by the Alzheimer’s Australia Dementia Research Foundation via a 2015 Resthaven Incorporated Dementia Research Award.
In 2016 the project expanded to include a national website and online support program for carers of people with dementia called ReThink Respite Online. This phase of project activities is supported by a 2016 Dementia Australia Dementia Research Foundation grant.
