The Dementia Enablement Toolkit: Allied Health Approaches

About the Toolkit

This toolkit builds your team’s skills to support people living with dementia across four topics: Communication and Connection, Supportive Home Environments, Identifying Falls Risks, and Delivering Falls Prevention Education.

Designed for team leaders, clinical educators, and health professionals to facilitate, each topic uses best-practice, person-centred approaches based on common, real-life scenarios.

Topics in the Toolkit:

  • Include everything needed to deliver the session
  • Are brief, bite-sized sessions that can be delivered in 20 minutes, and in any order
  • Are suitable for any care setting

Learning Outcomes

Toolkit sessions will help participants:

  • Recognise how dementia affects communication, home environments and falls risk
  • Apply person-centred strategies and tailored education to support safety, independence and connection for people living with dementia
  • Partner with people living with dementia, their care partners and other health professionals to understand their needs and manage their risks
