Identifying Falls Risks

This topic helps you identify falls and the risk factors behind them.

Participants will explore the evidence on falls in people living with dementia, then watch video scenarios, set in the home, hospital and residential aged care, to practise identifying whether a fall has taken place. An interactive activity will then help them spot the common risk factors that can lead to a fall.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, participants should be able to:

• Define what a fall is and identify if a fall has taken place
• Identify common falls risk factors for people living with dementia

How to Prepare

1. Read the Facilitator Guide alongside the Interactive Training Tool, working through both together so you’re familiar with the flow, animations and interactive elements before running the session.
2. Download the A4 Identifying Falls Risks Handout, then share it with your team after the session.
