Jenny’s Diary
19 Feb 2016
A resource to assist practitioners and families help people with an intellectual disability understand and come to terms with a diagnosis of dementia.
This is a free booklet and set of postcards produced by the University of the West of Scotland to assist practitioners and families help people with an intellectual disability understand and come to terms with a diagnosis of dementia.
The authors say that currently there is limited guidance on how to explain dementia to an individual with an intellectual disability and a fear of what will be understood, what words to use and how to cope with the response.
