This is module 3 in the 4 part module series: Appropriate use of benzodiazepines and other sedatives.

Before undertaking this module you will need to complete the following:

In this module you will work through case studies, involving a person experiencing each of the target responsive behaviours. For each case study you will develop a management plan to help support the person.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module you should be able to:

  • Recognise the three suggested stages involved in a management plan when supporting a person experiencing a target responsive behaviour.
  • Describe non-pharmacological strategies that may be used to support people living with dementia.
  • Explain the review and monitoring process once a person is prescribed a benzodiazepine and/or other sedative medications.

Learning with DTA
